1989 Chateau Pichon Baron Longueville Pauillac Bordeaux
This property was once a single estate called Pichon Longueville that became separated in 1850 into Pichon Longueville Baron (Pichon Baron) and Pichon Longueville-Comtesse de Lalande (Pichon Lalande). Wine enthusiasts love to play the game ‘which wine is better?' For 1989 it's a photo finish. The 1989 Pichon Baron is gorgeous, massive wine with ripe black fruit, pencil shavings and firm tannins. It will be interesting to observe how this beauty evolves over the next few decades.

Under the direction of the dedicated Madame de Lencquesaing since 1978, Pichon Lalande is widely regarded as one of the finest properties in Bordeaux. Situated between Léoville Las Cases and Latour, 35% Merlot in the vineyards contributes a round, voluptuous texture to the wines. The '89 is one of our favorite wines of the vintage.

1989 Dom. Romanee-Conti Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru Burgundy France
Overshadowed by the legendary 1990 vintage, 1989 produced some outstanding wines by producers willing to minimize yields during the near-perfect growing season. One great success story in 1989 is the famous Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. Their Grands Echezeaux is a tremendous wine only now entering its peak of perfection. Firm and flavorful with red berries, rich oak, minerals, and spice, this beauty will easily last another 10-15 years when properly cellared.
Price: $419,00

1990 Bollinger Grand Année Brut Champagne France
The Bollinger Champagne house is still a family run business in an industry dominated by giant companies. Hand-crafted quality and their trademark rich flavor profile and full-bodied texture make this one of the finest examples of any vintage year. Grand Année means "Great Year" which fits 1990 to a "T." Each time we taste any vintage of Grand Année it proves itself a standout. We purchased just a few cases from a great cellar so supplies are extremely limited. Don't miss this one.

1990 Bollinger Vieilles Vignes Francaises Champagne France
The wild beast of Champagne, the Vieilles Vignes Francaises is not just big, its a massively concentrated, ultra-complex sparkling wine of mythic proportions. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir taken from three exceptional vineyards which boast completely ungrafted vines with the tiniest of yields. The wine is made from overripe fruit and massively concentrated, vinified in small, four year old, oak casks. Vieilles Vignes Francaises is not a classic Champagne in style, but is a truly great wine, and ages extremely well. Extraordinarily full, rich and lush and very complex in both aroma and flavor. We only received a few bottles of this wine since Bollinger averages a mere 170 cases for the World! Don't wait.
Price: $330,00

1990 Ch. Cos d'Estournel St. Esthphe Bordeaux
By a good measure the top producer in St. Estèphe and one of the 'Super Seconds' in the Bordeaux firmament. Forty percent Merlot in the vineyard and generous use of new oak balances the character of Cos d'Estournel's heavier clay soils. The 1990 is a stellar vintage for this chateau.

1990 Ch. d'Yquem 375 ml Sauternes Bordeaux
Half bottles! No dessert wine produced anywhere in the world enjoys the lofty reputation of Chateau d'Yquem, and this reputation has been fiercely maintained over the years by an uncompromising commitment to quality. The 1990 vintage is stunning and has a long future ahead in a proper cellar, although half bottles will mature more quickly.
