1997 Bouchard La Romanee Grand Cru Burgundy France
La Romanee vineyard is the smallest appellation controlee in France at a mere 2.1 acres directly above the famous Romanee-Conti vineyard. There is some disagreement as to whether the two sites were once one vineyard over 300 years ago. What is known, is that however similar the wines may be, La Romanee is typically more reserved and less forthcoming in its youth. That said, expect this treasure to be at its best in 10-15 years.
Price: $339,00

Firm and tannic when young, the wine ages beautifully and will develop a silky texture over the next decade. Also available in magnums while supplies last.
