Enrico Scavino is one of the small, innovative producers in Piedmont whose wines consistently impress. Scavino works tirelessly to endow his wines with the depth of character that can only come from intimate knowledge of the vineyard. The 1985 vintage produced approximately 1,200 cases, and we received a single case of magnums directly from the estate's cellar.

1986 Ch. Margaux Premier Cru Bordeaux France
A favorite of founding father Thomas Jefferson, Chateau Margaux is known to be the most elegant, perfumed, and delicate of all first growth Bordeaux. This house enjoyed particular accolades during the 1980s; it's argued that the celebrated vintages of '81, '82, and '86 were the best in all of Bordeaux. These wines can easily age for 40-50 years but given the femininity of Margaux, you may pop the cork (gently!) for your next special occasion.
Price: $495,00

1987 Chateau de la Guimoniere Coteaux du Layon Chaume Loire Valley France
As with exceptional Sauternes, noble-rot affected grapes are hand harvested in successive tries, or pickings, for Coteaux du Layon Chaume's Chenin Blancs. This appellation is perhaps the Loire Valley's greatest sweet white-wine region. Decadently delicious when young, this multifaceted wine can age gracefully for 50 years or more. Owned by the Doucet family in Anjou's famous Chaume hamlet, the Chateau de la Guimoniere is Coteaux du Layon Chaume's largest producer of sweet white wine. The high-quality 1987 vintage is full, with rounded fruit flavors and mineral expression. Decant it first, and have it the local way as an aperitif, with foie gras, or with chevre or blue cheese.
Price: $37,00
