This profound red offers incredibly rich, ripe fruit and layers of earthy complexity, all while retaining impeccable balance. 1983 Chateau Palmer Margaux Bordeaux
The grandeur of Palmer is evident from the elegant, turreted chateau that graces the property (and the label) to the wine itself. Since the 1960s, Palmer has made some of the finest wines in the region – justifying the well-held belief that Palmer deserves much higher status than third-growth. The fabulous 1983 Palmer is a blend of roughly equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a small amount of Cabernet Franc. It is a stunning wine with great structure and concentration as well as a lush, round texture and may be consumed anytime in the next 10 to 20 years.

1985 Ch. Cos d'Estournel St. Estephe Bordeaux France
By a good measure, the top producer in St. Estephe and one of the 'super seconds' in the Bordeaux firmament. The use of 40 percent Merlot and generous new oak balances the character of Cos d'Estournel's heavier clay soils. The 1985 was an excellent vintage for this chateau.

1986 Ch. Margaux Premier Cru Bordeaux France
A favorite of founding father Thomas Jefferson, Chateau Margaux is known to be the most elegant, perfumed, and delicate of all first growth Bordeaux. This house enjoyed particular accolades during the 1980s; it's argued that the celebrated vintages of '81, '82, and '86 were the best in all of Bordeaux. These wines can easily age for 40-50 years but given the femininity of Margaux, you may pop the cork (gently!) for your next special occasion.
