1996 Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Bordeaux
This is surprisingly concentrated and complex for a ‘second' wine -- but maybe not so surprising given that it is Chateau Latour's second. Latour, after all, is the most massive and backward of all the chateau. The 1996 Les Forts is still quite young and tight, so cellar it for 8 to 15 years.
Price: $89,95

1996 Matthews Cellars Cabernet Blend
This Bordeaux-style blend shows off Washington's two best red grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a little Cab Franc. Why choose when you can get them all in one glass? Stellar stuff.
Price: $42,00

1996 Parker Wines First Growth Coonawara Australia
My notes for the 1996 include "stunning," "superb," and "world class." A spectacular Aussie Cabernet by any standards.
Price: $62,00

1996 Pavillon Rouge du Ch. Margaux Bordeaux France
Chateau Margaux consistently produces an excellent second wine known as Pavillon Rouge. Each year approximately half the production is bottled under this label and spends a minimum of 18 months in French oak barrels, half of which are new. The 1996 Pavillon Rouge presents the same ripe cassis, vanilla, smoke, and spice notes you’ll find in the first growth, but this is a supple, finessed wine meant for drinking over the next 5-8 years.
Price: $65,00

1996 Penley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Coonawarra
This classic Australian red wine captures and enhances the distinctive characteristics of Coonawarra. Winemaker Kym Tolley is the sixth generation winemaker of the Penfolds and Tolley families, and his wines reflect the highest standards of both.
Price: $47,00

1996 Robert Mondavi Oakville District Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
The saturated, deep plum color staining your glass is your first indicator of the pleasure to follow. This is central Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in all its finery.
Price: $49,95

1996 Rodney Strong Symmetry Red Alexander Valley California
Alexander Valley Cab (60 percent), Merlot (30 percent), and Cabernet Franc (10 percent), together with 23 months in American and French oak make the first bottling of this opulent and multi-faceted red blend a perfect Symmetry.
Price: $49,95

|
1996 Rosenblum Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Holbrook Mitchell Vineyard Napa Valley California
A flavorful Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon marked by ripe plum, black cherry, currant, and cedar notes. The bit of bottle age has done well to mellow the once firm and chunky tannins. Only 608 cases produced.
Price: $25,00

|
1996 Sawyer Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley California
Few wineries begin their winemaking life with such a spectacular first vintage as Sawyer Cellars has released. This 1996 Cab is already drinking nicely and will pair well with a pork roast dinner.
Price: $35,00

|
1996 Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Miravalle-La Perla-Chevalier Napa Valley California
This estate red is a blend of grapes from three vineyards -- 87 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, plus a bit of Merlot and Cab Franc. Soft enough to enjoy now, this fine wine has the potential for 10-15 years of development in a good cellar.
Price: $45,00
