1997 Bouchard Beaune Premier Cru Les Greves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus Burgundy France
Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus is a legendary small (12 acres) vineyard that was once the property of Carmelite nuns, who likened the silky elegance of the wine to the velvet trousers of the baby Jesus. This is a beautifully balanced, mouth-filling red Burgundy that will drink well over the next 5-10 years.
Price: $79,95

1997 Bouchard La Romanee Grand Cru Burgundy France
La Romanee vineyard is the smallest appellation controlee in France at a mere 2.1 acres directly above the famous Romanee-Conti vineyard. There is some disagreement as to whether the two sites were once one vineyard over 300 years ago. What is known, is that however similar the wines may be, La Romanee is typically more reserved and less forthcoming in its youth. That said, expect this treasure to be at its best in 10-15 years.
Price: $339,00

1997 Bouchard Le Corton Grand Cru Burgundy France
Le Corton is generally considered the greatest red wine in the Cote de Beaune and this is reflected in its grand cru status. The biggest and most masculine of the Cote de Beaune reds, Bouchard's Le Corton is full-bodied, deeply colored, and somewhat austere. Firm and tannic when young, the wine ages beautifully and will develop a silky texture over the next decade. Also available in magnums while supplies last.
Price: $89,95

1997 Bouchard Nuits-St.-Georges Premier Cru Clos St. Marc Burgundy France
This premier cru vineyard of only 2.3 acres produces powerful red wines with deep color and generous fruit, often with hints of leather on the nose. A natural wine to pair with red meats and game.
Price: $59,95

1997 Broadley Reserve Pinot Noir Willamette Valley Oregon
Something a little different from Oregon: bigger style, deep fruit, ripe, richer texture, with a healthy dollop of oak to spice it up a bit. Lovely and balanced.

1997 Byron Pinot Noir Santa Maria Valley California
This one opens with a blast of incredibly succulent fruit, and nuances of smoke follow through with a powerful acidity that provides backbone. It is one of many terrific Pinots produced by Byron Vineyard.
Price: $19,95

1997 Cambria Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard Santa Maria Valley
A supple, velvety Pinot Noir with flavors of ripe cherry, herb and new oak. This style of Pinot works very well with a broad range of dishes. I particularly recommend it with grilled salmon, swordfish, or tuna. 17,000 cases produced.
Price: $24,00

1997 Ch. Besson Givry 1er Cru Les Grands Pretans Burgundy
A lighter, juicy Pinot Noir from the Cote Chalonnaise area of southern Burgundy. Although quite drinkable now, this wine has the ability to age for 3-5 years. A North Berkeley Import barrel selection.
Price: $25,00

1997 Chandon de Briailles Pernand-Vergelesses Ile des Vergelesses Premier Cru Burgundy France
Bright and cheery as a sunlit autumn afternoon, the 1997 Ile des Vergelesses is as friendly a Pinot Noir as one could imagine. Try pairing its crisp acidity and aroma of freshly fallen sugar-maple leaves with a warming chicken stew like coq au vin.
Price: $28,00

1997 Chehalem Pinot Noir Three Vineyards Willamette Valley Oregon
A blend from three sites, that results in a ripe cherry/berry flavored wine with good acid structure and just enough oak to add a delicate frame around the fruit. Great match with sweet barbeque and other lightly smoky foods.
Price: $18,00
