1996 Comte de Vogue Bonnes Mares Grand Cru Burgundy
Comte de Vogüé is one of the grandest domaines in all of Burgundy, especially since their strong comeback beginning in the late 1980s. The '96 Bonnes Mares is the consummate red Burgundy – sweet dark fruit character, rich body and tannin, and a tremendous, long, elegant finish. Best to cellar until 2004 to 2015.

1996 Comte de Vogue Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru Burgundy
Comte de Vogüé's relentless pursuit of perfection is evident in this profound '96 Musigny. Vogüé's extremely low-yielding, old vines comprise nearly 80% of the entire Musigny vineyard. This wine will require patience. Musigny is one of the longest lived of all red Burgundies, and the excellent structure of this '96 will allow it to age gracefully over the next 20+ years.

1996 Denis Mortet Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Burgundy France
Denis Mortet is a talented young winemaker who crafts supple, succulent wines from prime vineyard holdings. Mortet's Clos Vougeot is distinctly different from the rest of the wines in his cellar. The 1996 Clos Vougeot is built around a core of firm tannins and brisk acidity, and it’s richly endowed with sweet plums, black cherry, spice, and luscious new oak. Less than 200 cases were made and the entire lot was hand-bottled by Mortet himself. Peak period for enjoyment should be between 2002-2010.
Price: $259,00

1996 Dom. Romanee-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru Burgundy
The 1996 La Tâche is destined to be a legendary wine. In fact, this monopole (meaning the vineyard is wholly owned by DRC) wine comes as close as any in recent vintages to rivaling the quality and character of its famous sibling, Romanée-Conti. This is a super complex, rich, hedonistic wine with perfect balance and the inimitable Asian spice character that DRC is known for. The '96 La Tâche is a brilliant effort that will pay dividends for many years to come.
Price: $695,00

1996 Dom. Romanee-Conti Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru Burgundy
Romanée St. Vivant may be the most delicate, sensual and beguiling Grand Cru in DRC's lineup. The 1996 vintage offers pure pleasure with its delicious fragrances of sweet dark fruits, violets, rose petals, earth and chocolate. This is youthful wine that will only improve and become more complex over the next 10 to 15 years.
