1988 Chateau Rieussec Sauternes Bordeaux
The vineyards and chateau of Rieussec are on the second-highest hill in the Sauternes district (d'Yquem is the highest). This allows the grapes to ripen a little earlier and reduces the risk of frost damage. This 1988 Rieussec is a terrific, classic Sauternes marked by intense aromas and flavors, decadent sweetness, tremendous length and the balance to last another 10 to 20 years.
